Daniel Whitney and Stuart Gamble were called upon after the company who we sub-contract to secured the restoration of Whitestaunton Manor. The task was to restore the plaster panels in the hammer beam ceiling (which won the wood award 2008) This was no easy task. The roof had to be lifted and the panels had to be placed in from above and then dressed from below. as they found, no conventional tool would fit between the hammer beam panels so special bespoke tools was made on site. This created more work for them within Whitestaunton Manor which included the coffered ceiling room, the main entrance hall, grand kitchen, master bathroom and many other rooms. With the specialist skills and knowledge of traditional conservation works they was asked to repair the 15th century stone windows (see photos below) They also helped with re pointing the barn (see photo above) The client Mr Stuart Moore also asked them to create bespoke lime plaster light diffusers in the coffered ceiling room. |
